Having Jim Goad edit your weekly column is like having the Soup Nazi judge your lunch every day. I did this thing on people who have lost their jobs for being Politically Incorrect and I wanted to include the Ashton Kutcher and and the Mary J. Blige ads but noooooo. Fact Hitler says they didn’t lose their jobs so I can’t use it. I say the campaign was killed so that particular job, advertising fried chicken for Burger King or being the spokesmen for Pop Chips is over so that job is gone. Besides, the money that gets flushed down the toilet when these ads are killed loses dozens of other jobs from key grips on shoots to graphic designers designing the print campaign. Details McStalin comes back with, “That’s really, really, really, really, stretching it.”
Fine, I’ll put it here on this site. He can’t do anything about that and he never will. In your face Benito Goad!
In April, this brutally overrated R&B singer did an ad for Burger King that included fried chicken. She was dressed as some kind of weird punk rockabilly but members of the black community criticized the ad as being “stereotypical” and the ad was pulled. Ten years ago, Dave Chappelle said, “Where are all these people who don’t like Chicken and Watermelon? I’m sick of hearing about how bad it is. It’s great! I’m waiting for Chicken to approach me to do a commercial, nigga. I’ll do it for free Chicken!”
Last week, the charisma-challenged Kutcher made the mistake of putting brown on his face while portraying an Indian and was immediately canned. Nobody could explain exactly why this was wrong or why his portrayal was singled out. Nobody complained when Peter Sellers did it in 1968 or when Mike Meyers did it in 2008. They didn’t even mind when Robert Downey Jr. dressed in blackface and slapped a black man for saying “nigger.” The only people who should have been offended by this ad are the Funny Community.
There are Ten More on Takimag.com but this one makes my fucking head spin.
