My favourite X Ray Spex song was “Germ Free Adolescent.” It reminds me of being covered in acne and listening to my Virgin Records Best Punk Album In The World Ever CD when I was 14 and wishing I was a germ free adolescent. I wasn’t, I was revolting. I think that’s sort of the point of the song — growing pains and all that. It was probably one of the first songs I heard that I could relate to in a realistic way. That’s what’s great about punk music. Oi, acne, up yours!
